The mayor's office said that each vehicle would carry up to 16 passengers and their luggage, and would depart from O'Hare and downtown Chicago as frequently as every 30 seconds, the Verge reported. It added that The Boring Company planned to charge fares cheaper than what the proposal required: that the premium service should cost less than current taxi and ride-share services.

But close to dead and buried.
What is the maximum distance/ depth of ground penetrating radar?
When you strike an obstacle, how far do you needed to backup, to change course? After the walls are grouted/reinforced?
Boring machine turns are going to be VERY LONG radius? And expensive.
I find the machine interesting.
Are they going to have Boring Marshals in each pod to maintain Chicago Order?
“The mayor’s office said ...”
Shove it up your ass Emanuel.
Should have hired the Boring company to babysit the kids’ pets while they went on vacation. Gecko fed, cats fed, let in/out/in/out/in/out——>...dog fed, let in/out/in/out-—>etc...>>>fish fed, etc.
Have you done anything to find the answers to your questions?
I’m reading his biography now. Musk draws a lot of hate here, and I agree that $5B could have been better spent than on electric cars for rich people. But you cannot deny that he’s a driven guy. Driven in a similar way to Steve Jobs, where they would not take “that’s not possible” as an answer.
Pricing: One of the best airport to city high speed trains runs in Hong Kong. Clean, fast, frequent, with intermediate stops at the Expo, Tsing Yi, and Kowloon, and hugely convenient (outbound you can check your bags in the city and take just your carry on’s in the train). A taxi fare between the international airport and HK Island is about ten times or more what the train costs, tickets (one way or return) are sold from vending machines, and you arrive at the stops in minutes, traffic free. If Chicago is going to charge just a few pennies under what a taxi would cost it will be a typical (for a Democrat run city) ripoff.

...
What makes you think $5 billion was spent on electric cars for rich people?
I’m glad to see you’re reading the biography.
Will there be a terminal at #44 Library to handle the crowds of visitors?
I went to HS in Chicago and took architectural Drafting as one of my courses. In that I learned that when the glaciers came through and carved out Chicago and that area there is bedrock there and to erect the skyscrapers you have to sink pilings down to it in order to support the structure. Other wise you are dealing with a lot of sedimentary crap and tunneling will be a challenge. There were a lot of them in downtown Chicago, and at off times the walls between them and the river would fail and make a big ole mess.
This smells like a boondoggle as the downtown to O’Hare route is not busy enough to warrant all of this non sense. I have flown from there hundreds of times and most of the other travelers lived in the Burbs, not in the city but then time they do change
Anything that moves in that City has somebodies hands in their pockets, it is one of the most corrupt cities I lived in. Could be a great place and lots of fun times, but I did my time and I may visit but live there again
No thanks
The homeless will have protection from the weather (think a deeper version of Lower Wacker Drive), and Chicago will certainly figure out a way to tax the hell out of it to pay for pensions and line pols pockets.
He’s been given $5B in US taxpayer money for his various projects. I’d much rather see that money spent on veterans or repairing our crumbling infrastructure.
I will say his disruptive practices have certainly changed industries (banking, automotive, etc.).
I tend to disagree. Steve Jobs created products CONSUMERS had to have and paid for from their own pockets. What has Musk created that has not relied on govt subsidies? Electric cars? No. Space Transportation? No. Boring machines? No. In fact, Musk hasn't really created anything new, he has just repackaged and remarketed remakes of old ideas...and used tax payer dollars to minimize his own risk. I don't blame anyone for trying to make a buck using the system, but there is a huge difference between a Steve Jobs and an Elon Musk.
Hes been given $5B in US taxpayer money for his various projects.
...
Does that include the $465 million loan that was paid back in 2013? Does that include money that hasn’t been received yet such as breaks on local taxes because they are bringing jobs and economic activity to an area? How much of that $5 billion is rebates that went to the customers? I figure most people buying an expensive Tesla would have bought one without the rebate.
Steve Jobs was also a nasty human being.
So it’s a loop to go from the loop to the airport? The loop loop? It’s NOT a hyperloop, but it IS a metaloop.
Personally, I don’t get the fascination with denigrating Musk. Yes, the Boring Company will live off of government contracts, but at least it’s a private company and not a government venture. And cost over-runs will come out of Musk’s pocket, not the government’s.
Do you honestly think that Musk — or his other investors — are so stupid that they don’t what turning radius he’ll require? Or that they need to know of obstacles?
Yes, interesting.

I don't think it's very deep. I saw an interview on youtube with Elon Musk where he was talking about the Boring company.
He was asked if boring tunnels would cause vibrations and surface issues. He said that if you go down 20 feet it's undetectible. He said, if you do find a way to detect it, the Israeli military would love to know.
He also said there is a limit to how high you can go. But there is no limit to how many layers of tunnels you can dig.
>> Id much rather see that money spent on veterans or repairing our crumbling infrastructure. <<
MEMO: He’s replacing Chicago’s crumbling infrastructure. You can’t easily upgrade routes that are at 120% capacity. The more pressure you take off, the cheaper and easier the upgrades are.
