I think I was one of the few people that actually enjoyed the Solo movie.

I did not. They turned Solo into a pussy chasing dope whose sole motivation is the hypergamous woman who only uses him to get ahead.

Not my idea of a great origins story.

I saw it the other day as it as it about to fly out of theaters. Didn’t know it bombed.

Anyway to me, maybe a bit better than Rouge One (not including awesome Vader scene) but meh.

SPOILERS

It was entertaining enough but ultimately underwhelming in some areas. Basically a heist film set in the Star Wars universe, which is a neat idea but it was easily the least “Star Wars” feeling Star Wars film. I did enjoy seeing the lives of “regular people” in the Galaxy, Corellia looked like Robocop’s Detroit.

Emilla Clarke looked friggin gorgeous in her natural hair color but the “romance” subplot didn’t work. There’s no set up at all, she’s just a hot chick he’s with, then they get separated and it’s hard to care cause we’re 20 minutes in, getting back to her is supposedly his primary motivation, then he just runs into and it’s like the most anti-climactic thing ever and they kinda meander along till she splits. That’s pretty realistic I guess but it’s not very interesting.

I would have loved to see him bomb out of Imperial pilot training but no they skip over that. :/

Darth Maul has a cameo as a crime boss and talks more in one scene that he did in Episode One. I knew that they had him surviving getting chopped in half (with a robotic lower half, so no genitals, great life).

The dude playing Han, he was OK, charismatic, watchable. I know this is a young version but he really didn’t have any of that hard edge, he seemed like Han’s little brother. And him aiding the rebels at such an early stage undermines his story in the main trilogy.

The dude playing Lando, didn’t like him, no presence and they kinda made Lando out to be....I don’t know, a lot less cool than he should have been.

Lando called Han “baby” and I thought that was weird, then I read something about the producers saying Lando is “pansexual” and “there was something very fluid about Billy Dee Williams”. What da fooq? NO ONE read “faggot” off of Billy Dee’s Lando. NO ONE other than faggots wants Lando to be a faggot. He and his (female personality) droid perhaps being into each other, that was interesting, robosexual.

The droid was good comic relief, #droidlivesmatter

I don’t know if this is the extent of Han and Lando’s relationship before “Empire” cause if it is I’d call it a passing acquaintance. The cards game scenes lacked any kind of punch. Han doesn’t exactly save Chewie’s life so it’s not really clear when he stays with him instead of going with the other Wookies. The way they portrayed Chewie him staying with Han to be a smuggler makes little sense.

The Kessel run was pretty neat.

The standout was actually Woody Harrelson. The end with Han Shooting first was good.
