"Eating a high fat, high sugar diet has long been known to be a major risk factor for obesity and pre-diabetes

I understand the sugar, of course, and have given that up. But many people swear that if you're diabetic or pre-diabetic, you should eat a "high fat, low carb" diet. Is fat good or not?

High fat, high carb is not good.

If prediabetic, stop eating breads, pasta, rice, sugars, cereals and the vast majority of “normal” desserts. That leaves unsweetened beans, lentils, and possibly potatoes. Only potatoes would be allowed on a “paleo” diet of these, if you wanted to consider that jump.

Another way to view this is from Glycemic Load. We aren’t buying things above a “2.”

However, we do specifically eat two things for dessert that are lower carb and very tasty. From Walmart’s freezer section, “Paleo Cookies”’ from Jimmy’s Cookies and any ice cream from “Enlightened.”
