NEW YORK Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was never expected to approach the record-setting heights of 2015s Jurassic World, but it still took a mighty bite out of the box office with a $148 million debut, according to final ticket sales figures Monday.
The opening proved that the 25-year-old Jurassic Park franchise remains a massive draw, even when trailed by mediocre reviews. The follow-up to Jurassic World (which debuted with $208.8 million three years ago) earned just a 50 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. But audiences gave it an A-minus CinemaScore.
After opening with an animated-feature record $182.7 million last week, Pixars acclaimed Incredibles 2 slid to second with $80.3 million. Rarely have two such popular films filled theaters at once. The weekends total ticket sales ranked as one Hollywoods biggest overall weekends ever.

Agreed. We saw it Saturday. Good movie.
What’s a .... movie?
I am going to see “American Animals” tomorrow——can’t wait,I remember reading about these idiots in Vanity Fair.
A real “gang that couldn’t shoot straight” story.
.
All the Jurassic Park movies have the same exact plot. You either like them or you don’t. I find them fun. On the other hand, the Star Wars/Trek movies bore me. To each his own.
People like dinosaurs.................
They certainly do...
I was surprised how slowly the movie started and how they were only on the island for about 2 seconds.
Towards the end, I was looking at my watch.
I give it a D.
BTW, how many times can the hero(s) be saved by a bigger
dinosaur coming out of nowhere to eat/take care of the dinosaur that was about to get him/her/them.
Hell, that’s how the original Jurassic Park ended.
The plots are usually fresh, although the scientists never pack enough heat.
Stegosaurus and T-rex were not cohabitants..............
Just make sure you don’t mix them in a diorama with others not from the same time era...................
The Steg identified as a Rex.
Yep
Non-Hero/Star: Dino will jump out and eat you immediately
Hero/Star: Dino will walk slowly over to you and growl/roar at you giving you time to escape and/or let a bigger dino hear and come to your rescue
“They look like one is female and the other male.”
My mom’s uncle had a ceramic frog set. He told people one was male and one female. If you asked how he could tell them apart, he asked you to look at them.
One had boobs and the other a penis. He got a big laugh out of it.
Well, that surely beats Disney’s, “Star Wars: The Fallen Franchise”.
Maybe it is that little kid in each of us that loves big bad toothy dinosaurs and outer space creatures! First I saw was BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS. Scared me when it ate the policeman, followed by 20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH! Great movie! Then lots of good fake dinosaur lizards in THE LOST WORLD. ONE MILLION YEARS B.C. What’s not to like about fur clad babes fleeing DINOSAURS!
Now they are bigger, badder and MORE TEETH great!
On the other hand I would not walk across the street to see a free superhero movie.
The dinosaur fight in the original King Kong movie was exceptionally well done for its time..............
