CHICAGO (CBS) Twenty-two people were shot in Chicago on Monday, including 13 people shot in a span of one hour. Two people were killed, and the surviving victims included an 11-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy.
The most recent shooting left one man dead and three other people wounded late Monday night in the West Pullman neighborhood. Police said, at about 10:50 p.m., three people were standing outside near 123rd and Yale, when a 19-year-old man opened fire from a nearby gangway, shooting three people. An unknown person returned fire, hitting the gunman in the face and chest.
The 19-year-old gunman later was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
A 13-year-old boy was shot in the arm, and was being treated at Comer Childrens Hospital, where his condition was stabilized. An 18-year-old woman was shot in the thigh, and a 16-year-old boy was shot in the foot. Both were taken to Christ, where their conditions were stabilized.
About five minutes before that shooting, six people were shot in an attack in the Bronzeville neighborhood. Police said the victims were standing in Ellis Park near 37th and Vincennes around 10:45 p.m., when an unknown person began shooting.

Children? Meh. The only ones that matter are on the border apparently. Or parent-less in a lot of cases.
When democrats predominate.
Sounds as though those “cages” in the illegal alien children’s detention camps are much safer than the streets on a summer Monday in Chicago. Why aren’t there protesters in front of Mayor Rahm Emmanuel’s home?
Very effective gun laws. Criminals don’t obey laws....
Waiting for politicians in IL to have them all renamed as "peaceways."
Just another reason, among the existing many, and they are legion, to stay away from Chicago. Sympathy to FReepers who live there and cannot conveniently move away.
What were 11 and 13 year olds doing outside, hanging around a street at almost 11:00 PM, in a lousy neighborhood ?
They be keepin’ it real in the Windy City.
Elections have consequences.
It’s a lousy neighborhood, where absolutely NO tourists would/should go; though these feral animals are now invading the much better parts of that city, every now and again.
No time for the elected representatives of American citizens to work on domestic problems of American citizens. Elected representatives (including some Republicans) seem to be spending most of their time advocating for and worrying about the “rights” of illegal invaders. Sorry, Chicago!
Just more proof that black lives don’t matter to their fellow blacks.

11 and 13 year olds shouldn’t be out at that hour in ANY neighborhood-——some folks just don’t get it
I was wondering what a “gangway” was.:-)Now I know,thanks.
.
I don’t hear a peep out of celebrities. No hunger strikes or fake crying for the children in chicago?
where is the cover of “Time” showing caskets lining the streets of Chicago?

Apprentice murderers have to work odd hours.
Where is Little Piglet boy????
