venting material from its surface due to solar heating a behavior known as outgassing Gassing? Did you say GASSING??
Well there's here's only one solution of that. Too much freedom for people to screw up the universe with too much gassing. WE NEED MORE GOVERNMENT TO STOP PEOPLE FROM GASSING THE UNIVSERSE! OUR PRIORITY #1 THREATENING PROBLEM!!!

When we were little kids, that nonsense tune was so hated by my mom and aunt that every time it was on the radio, one of them changed to a country and western station, because we would immediately start singing it-and if we didn’t stop, we were sent outside to sing in the pasture-another such tune, “Purple People Eater” also caused that reaction from mom and aunt...

That is just the kind of thing that drives adults insane-is there a fenced play area nearby-or if there is a park, can you send them to it? Noise abatement of kids screaming repetitive lyrics is a good thing...

A very significant object indeed.
The reason the asteroid is elongated is the same reason interstellar travel is impossible with current and future kinetic technologies. Inter-stellar dust will severely ablate any object traveling between stars. The greater the speed the greater the erosion. At 70k mph this thing has probably been traveling for billions of years.
