What toy(s) every child should have?

Posted on 06/28/2018 5:55:26 PM PDT by MNDude

Everyone has a memory of their favorite toys they grew up with. Which toy or toys do you think every child should grow up without? GI Joes for boys? A doll for girls? what do you think?

Blocks, Lincoln logs, legos, erector set, darts, bb gun, pellet gun, .22 LR bolt action rifle, Tonka truck, sturdy tricycle, bike, Frisbee, balls, real tools (screwdriver, wrench, knife, file, hammer, sandpaper, paintbrush, soldering iron, etc.), dolls and doll houses (girls only), plus whatever interested them that was not a fad. My big rule was no batteries or other electricity unless the kid used solder and made it himself/herself.

Is American Flyer still in business?

Lionel is, but it's mostly junk now.

“Model airplanes: all types.
Estes solid-fuel rockets.”

I tried to get my kids into this, didn’t work. Although with two girls the probability was small. I always had one of these going on.

I have to add to the 22 rifles and BB guns— need a pop gun to shoot dirt at your brothers, and to just be a good around the house war gun.

It’s how I was taught. First BB gun when I was seven, first single shot .22 when I was ten. I had five members of my family who were all military - Marines and Army. Showed me how.
