Oh, I’m so sorry. Have put down 2 kitties and thought I would have to put my pup, Reagan, down this weekend. He’s good, though. No cancer. Many prayers to you!!!
First time I'd cried in decades.
To relieve them of their suffering when no cure is at hand is the most humane thing you can do. Good on you that you realize that. All too often I encounter stories of people who put their pets through awful tribulations for no good purpose other than their own desire that the pet stays alive. Sad.
I am so very sorry. (((((KittenClaws)))))
It’s so sad and heartbreaking when you lose one of your furry family members. Prayers for you.
I am so sorry to hear this. It takes a strong individual to stand against others who have bleeding hearts and no soul when it comes to putting a beloved pet down. You did the righteous thing .
Lord have mercy. I had to have my beloved greyhound Wink put to sleep almost seven years ago. I still mourn.
You did the right thing. In the wild she would not have lasted the night. She would have died of hunger or a racoon would have ended her life quickly. Elderly are not found in the wild because God puts down almost every animal long before pet owners do.
So sorry for your loss. Putting a beloved fur baby to sleep is one of the hardest things anyone can do.
Praying!
We had to put down our two Lhasas down on the same day. Feb 11th. One was born on Valentine’s Day but we couldn’t stand to see him suffer one day longer. The breed has an average lifespan of 14 years. One was just shy of 14 and the other 3 days from 14.
We celebrated his birthday every Valentine’s Day. This year Valentine’s Day was very sad for us. And by the way, his name was Valentino.
One had a bad heart and one’s kidneys were failing. Both had lost their hearing and eyesight. It broke my heart watching them want to go up to the fence but stopped 5 ft short because they couldn’t tell how far they were from it.
They were becoming aggressive. One bit my wife when she bumped up against him. The vet said being deaf and blind made them very afraid. He said we did the right thing.
So I know how much your heart is breaking. The pain will lesson with time. And the crying spells will become farther apart. Little things will remind you. So you’ll never forget them and i know you don’t want to.
My wife gave all their toys and beds away before we took them on their final visit to the vet. That was a very smart thing to do.
My heart aches for you. And I’ve said a prayer.
I’m sorry for your loss. We only have them for a little time. I know the pain. I have a pup who will be 15 in August. Like you, I will refuse to let her suffer when her health takes a turn. We have to love them well when we have them
Pets are special. Glad you gave yours the final release. Take time to grieve
I’m so sorry about your loss. I hope your good memories of your pet are a comfort to you.
Just reading your post brings back memories (& tears) of a lifetime of furry friends who’ve passed on. Blessings to you.
I sympathize. It took me five years to get over my beloved white cat, Budster. But I can’t stand when they suffer.
You did do the right thing...and one of the most difficult “right things” that must be done.
We’ve been there several times.
We are so sorry for your loss...make sure that you grieve.
Blessings.
You are in my thoughts and prayers. You did the right thing. Hugs.
Very sorry for your loss. Having been through it more times than I care to think about; I truly understand your pain.
Hugs to you and Troubles.
Our old dog is getting close. Wobbly legs, falling over, peeing in the carpet, deaf and almost blind. The kitties love all over her so as long as she doesn’t appear in pain, she’ll be with us.
I am so sorry.
