I don't listen to too much pop music these days but when I do, almost every song has a certain element in it - which is being termed the "Millennial Whoop."
I guess I could try to be the sophisticated musician and describe to you transitions between the fifth and third notes of a major scale and what not but I won't even try. The Millennial Whoop is basically putting a lot of "Wa-oh, wa-oh's" in just about every hit song. But don't take my word for it. Listen to it in the links below:

Pretty much every pop song these days has the same Millennial Whoop element in it.
It's creeping into country music as well (which has actually become the "pop music" of the heartland).
Here is a mash-up of recent country hits that share the same structure and if you listen closely, a few Millennial Whoops.
Auto tune, rhythms “borrowed” from other songs, whining, repetitive lyrics ... new music sucks.
I heard someone refer to that kind of “country” as hick-hop.
Can’t stand that garbage.

So much for “natural” these days. Liberals claim they are against corporations, yet, the crap they listen to is nothing but artificial corporate crap.
Sorry, but modern music creativity started before my time in the 50s and really began to develop in the 60s and culminated in the 70s. In my opinion, the 70s was the golden age of modern music creativity. Today almost no musical act can fill arenas all across the country as 70s bands could - and did.
Yes, the millennial whoop is a real thing.
I find it challenging to find interesting new music, but it can be done. But the radio is not the place to find it. The radio plays mindless muzak that no one truly listens to. It’s just a comforting background noise for people. Most of the “hits” today are little more than a throbbing beat with the occasional “wa-oh”.
The music industry is a shadow of what it once was. But apparently the money still flows in somehow.
Spot on. It’s really off-putting. Every female employs the slutty dress image and then writhes and moans the song. Almost without exception. Yeah, really creative.
That first compilation just confirms it was great growing up in the sixties. There was such an enormous variety of music then. Now it’s all homogenized by the producers to sell. What a load of uniform sounding crap.

Exactly. Was listening to it in Tractor Supply the other day. What junk. One song runs into the other.
My kingdom for just a few Cash or Kline songs.
Spotify and Pandora are the best places to find interesting, no -commercial music.

I like Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, movement 4, and Mozart’s D-minor Mass. Far fewer woo-oahs.

This isn't your boomers' John Denver, Led Zeppelin, Carol King, Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, Beach Boys, Beatles, Queen, Rolling Stones et al.
Yes... the above is a shortlist and I know I left out Pink Floyd, Cream, Hendricks, Elvis, Janis Joplin and Heart (Ann Wilson... born in 1950... and what a voice).
YouTube is also interesting. I often hear something interesting on Pandora and then look it up on YouTube and explore the music which gets associated with it in the sidebar. I find stuff that I never would find any other way. Then I adjust my Pandora station and the cycle continues.
This style has even crept into modern Christian praise songs. I heard it the last time I was at a “contemporary” service.
