Foolish is he who frets at night,
And lies awake to worry’
A weary man when morning comes,
He finds all as bad as before.
The Havamal, Stanza 23
Can we be sure this is an accurate translation from the Icelandic?
Just kidding. Thanks for teaching me something new—a common occurrence on FR. I never heard of this before looking it up.
Is the Havamal like our Proverbs? Many civilizations had “wisdom books” which were collections of advice and wise admonitions to be taught to young people coming of age.
Although our Holy Scriptures Proverbs are divinely inspired through Solomon or a school of writers working to preserve his wisdom under his name, they include advice to all ages, not just adolescents.
I ruin my life worrying and always have. A shame.
