An African-American millionaire and his Manhattan consultant son were victims of a July 4th hate crime in their hotel room during a Florida vacation.
A racist creep apparently snuck into Frank and Michael Davis’ room at the upscale Art Ovation Hotel in Sarasota and left a 2-by-5 post-it note reading, “You’re a N—-R.”
After returning to their sixth-floor room from breakfast, the Davises found the sickening message placed on a globe-shaped bedside lamp.
“I was stone cold for 30 to 40 seconds when I read the note,” Michael Davis, 27, a consultant for a financial firm, told The Post.
“My first thought was, what did we do to deserve this? We tipped well, we were beyond nice to all the staff.”
Fearing for their lives, Michael and his parents called the police and the front desk. The Sarasota Police Department responded, but no suspects have been named.
The incident was especially wounding in light of Frank Davis’ lifelong efforts to promote diversity. The business executive has donated $5 million to his alma mater, Bucknell University, for a new building and for minority recruitment.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Every time one of these “hate crimes” happen with no witnesses to corroborate outside of the “victims”, it’s a hoax.

I tend to agree (although I recognize that the story may be accurate) for the reason you state, but also I find it hard to believe that a 27 yo millionaire in the financial industry would be ‘stone cold’ for 30 seconds.
If he walked into the room and found a horse’s head in the bed, then I would believe a man like him would be stone cold for that amount of time.

New hotels have room door that are always LOCKED, when the door is closed, when you leave the room!
So either it was someone from housekeeping ( which is extremely doubtful! ) or the father or the son ( BOTH !) pulled this HOAX!

Yes, it’s probably a hoax, but unless it is allegedly hotel staff, how does someone sneak in their room, unless they breakdown the door, bringing all kinds of attention to themselves? How does a perfect stranger even know who is staying in a certain room? Does a millionaire even bother staying at a cheap hotel? It doesn’t pass the smell test.
Turn on a (c)rap station and you can hear that word every few seconds.
The story that the father is telling the media is different from the police report. Only the mother and son were present when the manager and the policeman arrived at the room. The mother didn’t want to be the reporter of the incident and refereed them to her son. No mention of the father.
he saw the word n-—er and feared for his life? I though all snowflakes were white.. He could have just quietly checked out and not made a big deal about it. Now everybody knows N___er is a trigger to this guys psyche. I once stomped a guy because he called me a cry baby.. that was in 4th grade. Im over it and have been called a lot worse. Otoh.. a reasonable normal person doesnt panic over a post it note. unless its a ransome note or a bank robbery in progress..
