Intelligent women should consider marrying less clever men if they want to start a family, according to researchers.
There are simply not enough brainy men to go round – so women may need to widen their search, warned the author of a report that found a growing number of professional women were freezing their eggs because they couldn’t find ‘Mr Right’.
‘There are fewer educated men in the world for educated women to partner with,’ said Marcia Inhorn, professor of anthropology at Yale University.
‘So if women want to find a partner with whom they can have children, they need a more expansive notion of who is Mr Right.

I have found that people in general, male and female, who represents and touts themselves as intelligent routinely over-estimate their intellectual capability. The truly intelligent person has a good appreciation for what they DON’T know and the result is a demeanor indicating reasonable humility. In short, be very wary of one who thinks themselves to be brilliant.

“Intelligent” women, code name for college educated career women, who gave up their prime child bearing years to pursue a career are hearing the ticking of their biological clock getting louder, and discovering that men have different requirements for a mate.
First clue women, it is not a dried up man hating spinster and their 30 cats.
The irony is that while a man in his 40s and 50s (and is good looking and wealthy) can marry a 20 year old. A woman in her 40s and 50s (and is good looking and wealthy) can’t.

I agree with one of our fellow FReepers that hideous amounts of student loan debt are also a major factor here. Most women who graduate college can’t afford to take any time out for a family because they’ve got massive amounts of debt to retire.
And you don’t need to “marry down” because a man doesn’t have a degree. A degree is not indicative of a man’s intelligence or his capability as a provider. Quite the contrary, really.
A man with a Ph.D. will have a mountain of debt to pay off but a man with a good trade, like a plumber, electrician, or a contractor will be earning as much as $450,000 a year in some places and he’s not paying off student loans!
When my daughters come of age and start looking for a husband you can believe me when I say that anyone with massive debts is NOT going to be welcome around here!
