If you’re going on a very low carb diet to cure your type 2 diabetes, DO NOT CONSULT WITH YOUR DOCTOR as often they won’t even be encouraging, following some other dumb government diet guidelines.

Truths:

1. A ketogenic diet will CURE your diabetes.

2. Most keto diets don’t take into account the gut biome so the gut bugs’ cravings will make your diet fail at some point.

3. If you go for a very low carb diet, and use the carbs you allow yourself to feed a healthy gut bug population, you will have no diabetes and no bad cravings and you will feel very good mentally. (The most beneficial gut bugs crave fibrous cooked veggies and cooked and cooled, reheated potatoes and other tubers.)

But yeah, it should work! You don’t even have to stay constantly “in keto” but avoiding all the sugars will cure the diabetes. You need to remember food cravings come from the bacteria, and the bad ones want sugar sugar sugar. You need those to die out and the healthy ones will crave roasted veggies and potatoes. I promise.

Losing that weight will lower blood sugar. High weight forces the pancreas to produce more insulin. Lost 55lbs low carb no more alcohol. Ac1 4.6 blood sugar 91!

I am elated by the results. Insulin resistant and pre diabetic for years until now.

Yep.

Two years ago the hospital put me on insulin, and force-fed me carbs while I was there.

Once home, I threw out all the carbs, and bought red meat, chicken (with the fat on) fish and olive oil and lots of fresh non-starchy vegetables and cooked at home all the time for a while.

A month later, the doctor took me off insulin because my blood sugar readings were never over 150 (and often were lower). Now they are always under 130.

I am most interested in learning about getting those gut bugs turned to good.
I had lots of good with Keto diets and my diabetes in the past.
Now it seems like I can’t get the Keto without still getting high sugar readings even eating 0 carbs.
The only way I can get to feeling better is 0 carbs and quit the Metformin and Glimipride.
But, like I said, the sugar still edges up.
Probably need more exercises.

My father was diabetic and the nutritionists always stressed eating a certain amount of whole grains everyday which in reality is some of the worst stuff anyone can eat even if they aren’t diabetic.

I feel like most doctors are strictly following government and insurance guidelines that don’t really have the patient’s interest in mind.

Seems like they want to keep us just sick enough to keep coming back for more drugs.

I feel like the food processors, pharmaceutical industry and government all work together to keep us sick.

That sentiment may stink of tin foil hattery but I stand by it anyway.

“If you’re going on a very low carb diet to cure your type 2 diabetes, DO NOT CONSULT WITH YOUR DOCTOR as often they won’t even be encouraging, following some other dumb government diet guidelines.”

Generally the case, but if you REALLY want to tell your doctor, expect just what you describe and be prepared to find a new doctor. And keep in a few things about Type 2 diabetes:

1) The doctors can lose their licenses if they don’t treat your blood sugar (even though that’s a symptom, not the cause)...so they’ll always insist on that, even if they’re ok with Keto/Fasting. Think of the guidelines as laws, when they pertain to doctors.

2) The American Diabetes Association entire existence depends on Americans having diabetes - the more, the merrier, at least for them.

3) Diabetes is obviously a huge industry in the country, just as tobacco was, and hence the people/companies cashing in are in no hurry to see people self-curing.

4) Also aligned with Big Diabetes is Big Food. If the word ever gets out that today’s hybridized wheat is basically poison as our bodies have huge difficulties processing it, then there will be really big-time impacts to the food industry, since at least half of our food contains this wheat (pastas, breads, snacks, etc.). Sugar is also, of course, a killer. Also, similarly for the slightly less harmful high-carb foods, including potatoes and rice, very big impacts.

Thankfully, though, this is still a state-secret, so their jobs are safe.
