(CBS)A family dog will live out the rest of his days with a happy stomach thanks to Burger King.
One of the fast-food chains restaurants in Toledo, Ohio, is treating 10-year-old Cody, a Boxer-Lab mix who has terminal cancer, to his favorite snack cheeseburgers for free.
My family and I were heartbroken over the news, but we decided we wanted to try and make the last part of his life the best we could, he wrote. Everyday since we found out, weve gotten him a plain cheeseburger to eat with his many medications to make it easier and more enjoyable for him.
Then on Sunday, when Karcher visited a Burger King on Alexis Road to get Codys burger, an employee politely asked why he was getting a plain burger and he told her why. The Burger King employee left to speak with her manager, who said Cody could eat cheeseburgers for free at their location, according to Karcher.
I cant explain how much that means to us, and my family and I are beyond appreciative, Karcher wrote, adding the employees at the location are the best around.

My Jack Russell/Beagle knows the words Burger King.
Whopper Patties are $1.29 well worth the fun of treating somebody who truly appreciates it.
Now why give the poor dog something that makes him sicker every time he eats one.
Ahhh, I just saw plain burger. I stand corrected if they meant minus condiments and the non-burger additions. I’m very literal, plain is plain. Very kind of the Burger King. I hope others don’t try to take advantage of it.
Bttt I’ve got damp eyes but also am about three days into a sinus cold that I also gave to my wife, so I’m sure that’s most of the reason.
I read that his Medications were hidden in the burgers.
Dog has good taste. McDonald’s burgers will kill you.
If they can still wag their tail then life still has value for them.
Did the Article say that the Dog was suffering?
Our Friend’s Dog was given three Months to live according to the Vet. He ended up living over a Year and was not suffering.
He was given a Regimen of Steroids which did the trick. When his time came, they put him to sleep, but he and his Owner’s Family enjoyed the extra time they were given.
Before we had to put down our Dog, I wish I had thought to let him have some Chocolate Ice Cream. Our current Dog will get a feast and Ice Cream for dessert when her time comes.

I order plain cheeseburgers all the time. Meat, cheese, and bun.
will probably hasten his demise
Bread, meat and cheese is a cheeseburger.
I don’t eat them with lettuce/tomato/onions on them, I can’t stand that crap.
It’s a plain cheeseburger.
You’re obviously not an animal lover or have a fur baby. If you did you would get why so many posts are filled with love towards Cody.
Not judging you by the way, just assuming you’re not an animal lover.
This is not a feel-good story. A terminally ill dog should be euthanized sooner rather than later. Animals hide their pain. This dog is probably suffering horribly. Pet hospice is not for the pet; its for the owners. If they could feel what their dog is feeling, they would not do this.
Such kindness.
Just because clear-thinking people like me who face the hard facts of life (dog must be put down) doesn't mean we don't have any heart, or cannot possibly be a pet owner.
You underestimate me. You need to understand that people who love their pets can still see the reality that sometimes, putting a pet down is an act of empathy.
And yes, I've had pets almost continuously from childhood.
