A young man who walked 20 miles to his job can now drive wherever he needs to go.

Barely three days after starting a new job, the company's CEO hooked up Walter Carr with his very own Ford Escape.

I know I for one don’t know anyone with a bike that I could beg borrow, but I know of one or two I might could steal, but that would change the whole story. ;-)

Is there by any chance a slight difference in age between you and the young guy who walked 20 miles to get to work? Around our neighborhood every house has at least a couple of bicycles. There are also a large numbering of inexpensive bicycles available at garage sales and craigslist. I am happy for the guy, but it seems that he might not be the most resourceful person. I am pushing 60 but making it 20 miles to a new job would not be a challenge for me car or not and I wouldn't waste 6 hours walking to it.

I do believe that you are totally overthink the situation, look for a flaw, a wrong a mistake or something not inline with the spirit of the story a common trait among more that a few FReepers. May I suggest instead that you follow scripture and let it go.

Regardless of the wisdom of walking 20 miles to get to a job when many alternatives are available... it is a great story about the generosity of people helping this promising young man. Thanks for posting it. So sorry about “overthinking” it... and thanks for the scripture. I will try to keep the following in mind...

I saw that video package. That is a smart CEO.

How much does a minute of television advertising on F&F cost? This guy spent maybe $35,000 for the SUV and received a 3 minute feature content (including teases) on a national morning show. It was favorable, directed attention, and the story was likely mentioned favorably on all other tv nets as well. I can’t imagine the reach on social nets. There should be an uptick in business instantly.
