I worked as a C.O. and Sergeant in NY State's prison system before retiring in 2003. I'm a female, only worked in male prisons. The first week I was at Auburn, I was paired with an older officer. We were in the mess hall. The officer I was with pointed and said to me: "Watch out for this one...he's keeping an eye out for you."
I didn't understand his comment until I realized that the inmate he was talking about had an eye patch.
