Trevor Noah, the South African host of a popular U.S. TV show, sparred with the French ambassador in Washington after the comedian joked that Africa, not France, won the soccer World Cup.
The victory of a multicultural French team against Croatia in Sunday's final in Moscow has reverberated across the globe, being celebrated in France and other places as a triumph for diversity, while it has fanned racist abuse in some corners.
"Africa won the World Cup," Noah, host of The Daily Show, said in a segment on the late-night television programme this week.

He’s a hopeless racist. All he sees is skin color, and he knows that one of the major skin colors represent the source of all evil in the world.
Modern society should not tolerate that kind of thinking.
The South African comedian is hardly alone. I have seen at least three news articles that have praised the French team for being an “African” or predominantly African team too. One of them insisted that Africans should be rooting for the French to win for that reason. The other two were pushing the idea that mass immigration has greatly improved Europe because it gave them some additional good soccer players.
(Of course, the latter articles did not mention that the German team that won last time was majority ethnic German, the Spanish team that won before that was all ethnic Spanish, the Italian team that won before that was all ethnic Italian, the Brazilian team who won before that were all Brazilians with long-term roots in Brazil. In fact you have to go back to France’s 1998 victory to find another winning team consisting primarily of the children of recent immigrants. No one in the “press” seems to be noting the reality that most winning teams do not require so many newcomers to win. And even if they did, why would that justify letting in millions of poor, unskilled, overwhelmingly male, mostly Muslim migrants, often against the wishes of the local populace?)
Only golf is more boring to watch than soccer.
And I've never seen it. I am SO out of the entertainment mainstream. I am situationally depressed!
Actually, NFL football has become unwatchable.

If immigrants were the reason countries won the World Cup, the USA should dominate Communist Kickball, with our 40 million illegal alien invaders.
On the unwatchable scale, then soccer must go even further down.

Well, 3.2 billion people watched World Cup games this year, and 1 billion watched the final. That’s a lot of people viewing something unwatchable..
They don’t know any better, it is all they have ever had and grew up with. Power to them. I didn’t denigrate NFL football or anyone who watches it, just responding to your post is all.

A “popular” show? Hardly. And, African nations have long participated in the World Cup. None of them won.
You’ve got to wonder where South African Trevor Noah would be if not for whites in his native country.
