Study: Bacon, hot dogs, bad for mental health
Miami Herald ^ | 7/18/2018 | Scott Berson

Eating a lot of hot dogs, beef jerky, salami and other processed meats could do more than just add a few extra pounds — it could cause a serious mental condition called mania.

That’s according to a new study from scientists at Johns Hopkins Medicine published July 18 (National Hot Dog Day) in the journal Molecular Psychiatry.

The study found a link between consumption of nitrates, which are chemicals used to cure and process meat snacks, and episodes of mania, “a serious neuropsychiatric condition associated with significant morbidity and mortality.”

You can put some of that in your cheek just like smokeless tobacco to keep a nice maintenance dosage of bacon going between meals.

The Miami Herald and news in general is bad for your mental health.

This is just something to write about to get people to read it.

Lol. What I’m wondering is what do they mean by saying this ingredient causes “morbidity and mortality?” ?

Most processed meats have nitrites in them, but there are more and more brands that are releasing nitrite-free versions of meats and hot dogs.

How about a connection between being caged and fed copious amounts of food that are not that which you would consume were you at liberty in your natural environment and mania? No? Maybe the researchers are just dense.

The study found a link

You can stop reading it right there. That is code for "we did an uncontrolled study and say some apparant statistical correlation between these two items but it could be total coincidence since we didn't control the study properly."

Whenever you see "linked to" it means it was an epidemiological study, not a clinical study. Clinical studies are very hard because they have to control everything you eat, for years, monitor you the whole time, all that. Very few are ever been done on large scale populations of humans. Instead we get these epidemiological studies that count on people to report their own progress, don't control portions, don't control for all sorts of potential variables. SO all they can say is "we found a link" rather than a more definitive "cause"

Simplified report: Pork BAD, Islam GOOD.
EAT MORE PORK. Baconize the world. A pork chop a day keeps Muslims away.

I'd rather die crazy than live Muslim.
