NEAR BRANSON, Mo. — The Stone County Sheriff confirms eight fatalities involved
in a duck boat capsizing on Table Rock Lake Thursday.
Sheriff Doug Rader reports the boat had 31 people on board. He tells KY3 News four of
those have been transported to a hospital. Some of the 31 on board include children.
Divers are on the scene searching for more possible victims. The sheriff says he does
not know how many on the boat are missing. The sheriff is asking for any family
missing someone to go to Branson City Hall. It remains a rescue and recovery mission.
Investigators say the boat ended up sinking in the lake. It remains in the water.
Boaters and staff from the nearby Branson Belle rescued several.
Crews have set up a staging area near the Showboat Branson Belle. However, we can
confirm the incident has nothing to do with the Belle. Firefighters ask you to stay
away from State Park Marina, the Branson Belle, Boat Dock Road, Highway 176 in
the block of 7600 Cougar Trail Road, and Orchard Lane.
That's the report I heard. 80+ mph winds verses a DUKW boat, not going to be pretty.
