Francesco Molinari won the British Open on Sunday, giving him his first major title after emerging from a crowded pack including Tiger Woods in a wild final round at Carnoustie.
Molinari shot a bogey-free, 2-under 69 to finish on 8-under 276. He became the first Italian to capture a major championship.
Earlier, Tiger Woods played himself into contention, edging to within a stroke of the lead on the front nine.
Woods led briefly, but dropped out of the lead after a double-bogey at the 11th hole.
He sent his second shot into the gallery, with the ball rebounding out into the rough. He duffed his chip, then three-putted from off the green.

Woods fell more than 'just short' at the Open, he was three short of a tie for the lead and tied with two others for 6th place.
I didn’t think Tiger had another Major win in him.
But I still don’t think he’s quite 100% yet, but if he can stay healthy, next year he just might get one.
And then there were the idiots in the gallery who were yelling when Tiger was in the middle of his tee shot, they needed to get the snot knocked out of them.
I agree with the idiots getting the snot knocked out of them, they deserve it.
However it wouldn’t have changed the outcome, it was the 18th and Woods still parred the hole.

After the tournament, I saw an interview with Woods...I did NOT see any interviews with Kisner, Rose, Schauffele, McIlroy, Pepperell or Chappell....
I know, Tiger was lucky he pulled off a decent shot. If I were Tiger I would have done an ‘Elin’ on whomever was yelling.
Tiger = Ratings.

Imagine what Tiger might be like if he didn’t have a back injury.
Yeah...I know...Golf on TV was much, much better when he wasn’t playing...You were able to see a lot more golfers than one shot of the leader and them 6-7 shots of Tiger...

Tiger’s been through Hell, most of which is of his own making. But I hope he’s turned his life around.
I respect that he went golfing with Trump last year, and took some heat for it from the SJWs, so he’s back in my good graces now.

Disappointed Spieth had such a bad round....but VERY happy tiger did not win.
A despicable human being who used steroids & PEDs to help win most, if not all, of his majors. He is the Barry Bonds of golf and should have an asterisk next to his major wins.
Not surprising his last major win was just before the PGA began drug testing.

Winning that 2008 US Open, when he came back too soon, I think is what doomed him more than anything, I think he did some permanent damage that he’s never been able to come back from.
As far as steroids, maybe, although I don’t know how stringent the PGA tests for it.

I remember attending tournaments in 97 et seq. He really attracted a lower quality of “fan” They acted mostly unprofessionally, with the screaming etc not considered standard of the gentlemanly/womanly fan.
I was glad when he was out of golf and will glad when it’s permanent.
Well, he doesn’t have the “Barry Bonds” bloated head & neck anymore.
I was pulling for Spieth as I do most all the time, he had a disastrous day today.
