They recruited women into the cult based on the false perception of a self help group and then wouldn't let them leave using information gathered to blackmail them - reminds me of Scientology in some ways. Then they laundered money etc, lots of crimes.
I know a lot of Scientologists- they are all great people- I have heard some bad things but none of them are like that at all.
