The problem with all the evil punishments we can think of is that it brutalizes the person who conducts the punishments.

I prefer to toss them in a dank, unlight hole in the ground with no bed, no pillow, just another hole to relieve themselves in and food tossed in from above every now and then. And throw away the key.
