Hookworms are known as soil-transmitted parasite worms, and typically live in the small intestine. The eggs are transmitted through feces of an infected person, and the larvae can mature into a form that can penetrate through the skin of humans.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), hookworm infection is mainly acquired by walking barefoot on contaminated soil. While most patients do not suffer any symptoms or side effects, some may experience gastrointestinal issues.
Dumas told Fox 13 Memphis that part of his treatment included an attempt to freeze the worms.
While she was using the liquid nitrogen, he could actually feel the worms moving in his body, Dumas said. She also claimed that Pompano Beach health officials told her that everyone knows to wear shoes because of the risk of parasites.

The worm was removed after it burrowed from my back to my side. The drug was to kill asny eggs it left behind as itate its way along. Really a creepy memory. I didn’t notice the bugger until I took my shower at home before going to bed. There was a lot of itching and my wife inspected to find a trail of raised red skin from where it burrowed in to where it was removed by an emergency room doc. Used chloral hydrate to chill it and it surfaced and was captured.
Tonight begins my worm nightmares! Thought ticks were bad enough!
Yes indeed. They gave that to me via IV along with 2 different chemos to prepare my body for a bone marrow transplant.
Ivermectin is $32 for a 100ml vial. One vial dose rate is 5ml subcutaneos per 100 pounds. So that runs roughly $5 to treat hookworms. One dose lasts 90 days in your system.
I took Methotrexate. It made me more goofy than I already am.
But it killed the worms right?
Oh man! You gotta watch Monsters Inside Me on Discovery Health. I watch it with a grimace on my face. Its facinating though. Unbelievable what you can pick up out there.
