At the height of his fame — a five-year stretch as Hollywood’s top box-office earner — Burt Reynolds, 82, was making $10 million a year. He sank that into, among other things, six mansions, a private jet and helicopter, custom cars, the Burt Reynolds Dinner Theater in Jupiter, a stake in the Tampa Bay Bandits, a nightclub, a doomed restaurant franchise that cost him $20 million, and $100,000 in toupees made by a man considered “The Armani of Hair Replacement.”

Today, Reynolds is reduced to doing infomercials for CarShield auto insurance.

Burt had it all once.

He looks bad and I hate it for him.

Same with Mickey Rooney, Marlon Brando, Johnny Depp and others. Can’t handle the money or the success and have no inner resources, I guess.

When I was an underwriter in FL during the 80’s i underwrote a mortgage loan for Burt who was buying a home in WPB for his niece. (Yeh nice guy). His tax returns were about 3 inches thick. He was making so much money it was insane. The dinner theatre was really profitable at that time. I was in Jax at the time but Burt used to go into the WPB office and he was so nice to everybody.

I think celebs are just like everyone else. Some people are good at finances and some aren’t.
