“I’m sorry, but I don’t feel comfortable performing that operation on you. I’m just not confident enough in my abilities to work on your ailment.”
When I was a liver donor for my beloved brother we sought out the most skilled surgeons. Their politics were of no importance. I do not even today know what their politics were. We wanted skilled men and women. The main cutter was American Jewish, the secondary cutter was a Brazilian surgeon of great skill I assume Catholic, he also spoke Spanish as my wife and I although I am a gringo. It made interesting conversation post op once I was rational. The anesthesiologist was a British lady. My post op nurse was a gay American man, he was actually a very funny man. I did not give a sh-t who or what they were. I wanted nothing but skilled people cutting on my brother and I.
