If we find an inhabitable world, we will have a a goal to inspire people and something to work for. Without a planet to inspire us, we will waste our money on government bureaucracy and unnecessary welfare.

B.S. Thers is plenty of exploration to “inspire us” in our own solar system, and, as I said, a good 100-200 years before “inspiration” beyond this solar system will have practical human means to explore it. That will leave plenty of time before exploring the universe with long range observation craft will be needed. There are more important practical budgetary requirements now.
