...from the looks of it, it could be maybe 1 or 2 inches. Perhaps, but it looks a lot bigger than that to me. I agree with the size estimate from the article.

that drone fly is going to be sooooo big that it will give raptors competition for field mice, squirrels, etc. I don't know...maybe that one drone fly larva is mutated or something. That, or some sort of illusion in the video makes it appear larger than it really is.

I wouldn't know about this stuff, if I weren't married to a fisherman. He says it's quite an experience when you're fishing the creek in the dark of night, and one of the big flies lands on your shoulder with a creepy thud ;-)
