I liked BB King’s Blues Club. That was a few years ago and the wife and I went during the day - but there were musicians playing the blues and some pretty good BBQ.
Haven’t been there for a number of years, but my favorite has always been
its on the way to Graceland too, so you can kill two birds with one stone.
I grew up in Memphis but haven’t lived there for a long time. Tops BBQ was always one of our favorites. The rule in Memphis is the more run down it looks the better the BBQ. Make sure to plan a visit to the Peabody and see the ducks
the Charlie Vergos Rendezvous is the ICON for Memphis dry rub ribs. don’t miss it as it will complete your Memphis experience after BB Kings & Beale street.
I’ve only been to Memphis once, and my son and I had BBQ on Beale St. at a place called “The Pig on Beale”. It was good.
Not from Memphis, but Rendezvous downtown is one of the most famous. Can’t remember names, but have been to others. You have to be pretty good in the Memphis to stay in the bar bq business
Neely’s Interstate BBQ. You will not regret it!

Memphis, TX
Cozy Corner or Central BBQ
just be aware of your surroundings!! Even during the day.
Central barbeque, on Madison, in Midtown. I would also walk Midtown’ s Cooper - Young area.
Central BBQ (always a line outside. Get the ribs.)
BBQ Shoppe (outstanding)
Commissary (also outstanding)
Paynes (Best. Sandwich. Ever. Lunch only)
Tops (the fast food of BBQ, but very good)
It is hard to find bad Q in Memphis. The ribs are what seperate the good from the outstanding. I deliberately left off Corky’s and Rendezvous as they are touristy. Rendezvous has been great for ribs, but has been hit-or-miss lately.
Have situational awareness when you’re there.
Marlowes on Elvis Presley Blvd. Great bbq, but be ready for everything Elvis.
Get some chicken at Gus’ too....
Here are 10 that you may want to consider.
The good ones are reviewed on this YT page.

Sitting in midtown Memphis right now. For your safety I would spend the night in north Mississippi
I live a couple of hours from Memphis. I normally go a few times a year. My favorite place for music is Mr. Handy’s Blues Hall, right next door to The Rum Boogie. I don’t buy BBQ, I make my own enough.
