‘He has torn my head off’: Manafort judge known for being tough during trials
The Washington Post ^ | 8/1/2018 | Rachel Weiner

Mere seconds into the first words spoken to a jury from the special counsel team investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election, Judge T.S. Ellis III interrupted.

“Focus on the elements of the offense,” the 78-year-old jurist interjected Tuesday as Assistant U.S. Attorney Uzo Asonye described Paul Manafort as a man who believed he was above the law.

Soon after, Ellis interrupted again, as Asonye sketched for jurors Manafort’s luxurious lifestyle.

“It isn’t a crime to be profligate in your spending,” Ellis said.

He soon admonished defense attorney Thomas Zehnle in a similar fashion.

“I take it you plan to offer evidence?” he asked as Zehnle extolled Manafort’s contributions to American politics. Then say so, Ellis suggested.

As the federal judge in Alexandria oversees the trial of President Trump’s onetime campaign chairman on tax and bank fraud charges, his sharp demeanor comes as no surprise to lawyers who appear before him often.

There's nothing worse than a judge that lets a bunch of BS leak into a trial. And God knows how much lawyers like to grandstand at high profile trials like this. At least he looks like he want's this case to move at a fast pace.

I believe Ellis has something called “wisdom” in addition to his legal talents.

I don’t know if today’s snowflake lawyers could stand up to a real judge.

Last time I was called for jury duty, the female judge exercised no control over the lawyers. I wasted half a day before the lawyers were smart enough to cut me loose.

This Gates thing is huge. I hear Gates stole from Manafort. Muleface ( whom I have lost ALL respect for) made a plea deal with Gates? Then today Gates Reneged !! Muleface clearly was trying to get Gates to “ compose” lies like he want Manafort ( who worked in our campaign for 90 fricking days) to “COMPOSE “ ( as suggested by judge Ellis) a lie about “Russian collusion” in the Trump campaign. Let me tell you all. This silent coup has completely disintegrated before their beady eyes. It is finished.

Where's the evidence that Manafort did not report income on his tax forms.

And we all know that Manafort didn't do his own taxes. That's what accountants and attorneys are for.

“But prosecutor Uso Asonye said jurors may not hear from Mr. Gates after all.

“He may testify, he may not,” Mr. Asonye told Judge T.S. Ellis III.

The revelation sent journalists and others out of the courtroom to report the disclosure.

“That’s news to me and about 25 others who scurried out of here like rats on a sinking ship,” Judge Ellis shot back.”

CIRCA MAY 2018--- Mueller's office files unredacted memo outlining scope of Russia probe
Reuters ^ | May 17, 2018 | by Sarah N. Lynch
FR Posted by Oldeconomybuyer

WASHINGTON - Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s office notified a federal court in Virginia on Thursday it had filed under seal an unredacted memorandum that is expected to shed light on the scope of his wide-ranging probe into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. The filing, made as part of Mueller’s criminal case against President Donald Trump’s former campaign manager, Paul Manafort, was requested by the judge, who told prosecutors earlier this month he wanted to see an unredacted copy of an August 2017 memo written by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein which fleshed out Mueller’s investigative mandate.

In a court hearing two weeks ago in the Eastern District of Virginia, Judge T.S. Ellis told Mueller’s office to turn over a copy of the memo under seal to him by this Friday so he could review it before deciding whether or not to dismiss the charges against Manafort. (Excerpt) Read more at reuters.com ...

=============================

Judge Ellis needs to read this, pronto.

ITEM——Hillary Clinton ran in the 2008 ad 2016 Democratic primaries and in the 2016 general election.

ITEM——S/C Mueller “uncovered” that the Russian scheme seems to have (cough) "materialized" at some point in 2014.

Now, here’s the $64,000 question Mueller’s not addressing:

Why didn’t the CIA or the NSA or the FBI pick this up? Were Obama’s PDB’s falsified?
CIA's Brennan has been outed as working the phony "pee dossier" into Obama's PDB's.

Dates are important b/c Snowden’s’ revelations indicate:

<><>Obama’s government spying apparatus began capturing all electronic data on everyone in the U.S. in 2001.

<><>The Obama police state succeeded in mastering the capture of all keystrokes, telephone calls and digital traffic by 2005.

This we know:

<><>(A) that NSA traffic travels through FBI computers, and,

<><> (B) that the CIA keeps constant tabs on Russian spies in Russia....... and elsewhere.

BOOM

Greg Jarrett was on Hannity tonight talking about the Manafort trial and that the Judge would have none of what the attorneys were trying to say about Manafort...for instance, that he is rich ....judge saying it’s not a crime to be wealthy. There was more on Hannity - I don’t remember it all...but basically sounded like the Judge was doing the right thing today. If true, very glad to hear it.

EXCERPT -—a February 2017 article by the New York Times said the U.S. owned a year’s worth of intercepts and phone records between the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence.

On its face, the article is evidence of collusion. But former FBI Director James Comey testified to Congress that the story was wrong and that he warned senior leaders not to believe it.

The New York Times article said, “The officials said that one of the advisers picked up on the calls was Paul Manafort, who was Mr. Trump’s campaign chairman for several months last year and had worked as a political consultant in Ukraine. The officials declined to identify the other Trump associates on the calls.”

The story said Mr. Manafort communicated with Russian and Ukrainian intelligence. But Mr. Downing’s brief says he has asked Mr. Mueller for any evidence that Mr. Manafort communicated with Russian officials. Mr. Mueller reported back that he had none, Mr. Downing said.

“Despite multiple discoveries…. requests in this regard, the special counsel has not produced any materials to the defense––no tapes, notes, transcripts or any other material evidencing surveillance or intercepts of communications between Mr. Manafort and Russian intelligence officials, Russian government officials (or any other foreign officials).

The office of special counsel has advised that there are no materials responsive to Mr. Manafort’s requests.”

I believe the whole trial was based on the “Star Witness” Rick Gates testifying against Manafort, but all of a sudden the Mulehead team said he now will not testify. Judge Ellis replied, “You know who you are going to call,” He said. “If you are [not] going to call him then this is a waste of time.”
