I remember hearing about this but I was not sure if it was real or rumor. I guess it was real.

Went out at 4:30 this morning to feed my horses and saw something break up in the SW sky. It’s not uncommon to see the occasional shooting star or meteor, but I never saw one break up like that...

Ya know, since the Star Gate series went off the air, I’ve lost touch with what is really going on out there.

I’m in SE Washington so the breakup would have been somewhere over central Oregon I presume.

Ok, meteors don’t “strike” the earth and it doesn’t sound like this one did though the article is horribly written. Sounds like it exploded 43 km over the earth, and a liberal science group wants to blame the US Air Force.

an object of unspecified size travelling at 24.4 kilometres per second struck earth in Greenland...releasing 2.1 kilotons of force energy.Well if you state the velocity and energy then the size, e.g. the mass is already specified and, assuming my arithmetic is correct works out to be about 28,000kgs or 28 metric tons. If this were a sphere of solid iron it would be a diameter of just shy of 2 m.
