My detector outside is now 350 ug/me for PM2.5 and 500 ug/m3 for PM10. The EPA site is lagging on updates. Getting windy outside as well, around 20 mph, 81 degrees, and 22% humidity. Radiation averaging around 40 uR/hr, actually a bit lower than normal.

A combination of curiosity, teaching science to my boys, and don’t trust the government to report accurate and timely data. Case in point, after Fukushima, days later most of the US public reporting went offline. They claimed equipment problems. Very inconvenient. We are now seeing, if you dig for it that there is measurable radiation in the US, on the west coast, etc. I also recall in the military training to be a nuclear reactor operator how they first taught us to measure the radiation, then promptly explained to ignore the measures because you could subtract out for background radiation, local sources, etc. Therefore, even seeing 40 millirem per hour was not to be worried about. Sure. So, yes, I like having my own detectors to see for myself so that we can make informed, timely decisions. Like today, for example, wearing N95 respirators, even while indoors.

I can’t see California from here, either.

I’d be a bit worried if I could.

Yeah, ya gotta wonder how life survived millions of years without these gadgets.

Thank you; I’ll do that. I live just outside of Cleveland, so it would probably be good to know when the air is breathable.

Put a parrot on your should. If it keels over, run....

My lungs are imperfect. I'd probably keel over before the parrot.

>>> Do they detect mold indoors?

No... that requires laboratory analysis of slides specifically designed to trap mold spores.

Do NOT buy mold test kits. they are useless. They will grow mold ANYWHERE you open them up at.

What is needed is a comparative analysis of indoor and outdoor spore counts.

What is also needed is someone who can properly interpret the laboratory analysis results to identify location and cause of primary growth sources.

That is what I do.

Have you tried vacuuming your house?

There are companies that will come to your home and clean the carpets.

I gave my Dad a Weather Rock for his 70th BD.

300 lbs was my limit and set it with fresh cut willow poles.

Stayed up for 3 days then took it down 'cause it would attract kids to mess with it...hazard.

Cute, but we don’t have carpets and the air is filled with smoke, not house dust.

If due to wildfires, google Home Air Scrubbers for indoor air quality improvement.
