He's a big part of the reason that I never watched STNG when I still had television. I grew up on the original series and was in the military overseas during the beginning of Next Generation.

By the time I was in a position to watch Next Generation I had already seen the movie “Lady Jane.” From a minor part (I believe he was the Earl of Warwick) Patrick Stewart just filled the screen and stole the scene.

To me, the Jean Luc Picard role was like a five star chef making hotdogs in a push cart at a little league game. Sure, it's a good hot dog, but the chef is wasting his abilities.

Get a job, show up every day, make good decisions and you too may be able to have a television one day.

Prioritize your expenses. You can do it.

Heck, Patrick Stewart stole the show in Dune. But was so indelibly a second-in-command (and also in Hamlet), I just struggled to picture him as a captain in spite of his excellent acting performance and the absolute nullity of Number Two, William Riker.

There was and is no doubt Patrick Stewart was the only true actor among The TNG cast.
