Joe did say that he thinks it might hold together long enough to go all the way across the Pacific and be a significant typhoon in the West. I’m sure an eastern Pacific storm has done that in the past but, I don’t remember it ever happening.

“Will Hector hector Hawaii?”
Depends on Hector’s vector.

I thought if in the Pacific it was called a typhoon.

It has to cross the international date line first, then it becomes a “Typhoon”.

But all of those refugees would make it capsize. Hank Johnson told me so.

“Scientists differ over how hurricanes and volcanoes might interact...”
My suspicion is that the volcano will get wet.

North of the equator and east of the International Date Line is a hurricane.
https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/cyclone.html
... In the North Atlantic, central North Pacific, and eastern North Pacific, the term hurricane is used. The same type of disturbance in the Northwest Pacific is called a typhoon...

Trust me on this: Pele will win. Even if Hector could be convinced to stick around after the first blow of the "match", Pele can outlast him, and has more reserves.
