A Queens dad has become a video vigilante, setting online traps for potential child predators and then blasting the real-life confrontations on Facebook for everyone to see.
Many have questioned Tony Blas’ methods and motivations, but few can argue with his results: So far he’s netted nine men in his virtual web, including an upstate teacher who was arrested Tuesday after the State Police viewed one of Blas’ gotcha clips.
Jonathan Castell, 44, a math teacher at Middletown HS, was charged with attempting to endanger the welfare of a child, police said. School officials suspended the 20-year educator “pending further investigation,” according to the school’s Web site.
Blas, a stocky, 36-year-old plumber, and his crew of eight stay-at-home moms began hunting for sexual predators two months ago. The team posts ads on dating sites claiming to be women in their late teens and twenties...

I don't see this as a problem. It's not as if they're going to hook up with young girls at the neighborhood pool in real life. Without the Internet as a venue, they're left with fantasies.

That he gets this from simply trolling through general dating websites of men looking for adult women is really telling. Men are biologically wired as opportunists more than we’re comfortable to admit.
Our police department frequently sets up underage sex sting operations and no matter how many times they do it, they still have dudes lined up around the block hoping to score with some nubile, 14-year old cheerleader who's attracted to old guys with ear hair and beer bellies.
"I just came here to warn her!" they'll exclaim, with a six pack of wine coolers in one hand and a bag of dildos in the other...

Yeah but they claim to be minors and then men still take the bait.
I salute the work this man is doing, but I’m surprised he has identified himself. It may be the urge to be known as a hero, which is understandable, but if he’s a dad, his family is being placed in jeopardy. It could be that this is the only way such a vigilante effort could work. Maybe one has to attach an actual concerned citizen’s face to the typed in messages.
Jeff will be going after him for some obscure crime.

Grady Judd, the sheriff of Polk County loves to do sting operations. His last sting netted 2 teachers, 3 employees of Disney World and an employee of Legoland...One of the teachers bought a 6 pack (not sodas).
