For carry for protection in, say, a 9mm, I would probably opt for a bullet of 115 grains or less.
By the way, that would certainly be a hollow point, preferably one that can expand much.
Such a Good Dog!
125 grain .357 magnum hollowpoints.
They work.
They are also very, very LOUD.

There’s a Chow Chow up the road that will run out into the gravel road and attack a person. Bit the kid up the road. If my half pit gets loose, she might get into a fight with another dog but won’t bother people. Unless of course they’re dumb enough to try and break up a dog fight with bare hands. I’ve told my neighbors that of they ever feel the need to shoot my dog, feel free. Humans before animals every time and if my dog’s in a fight with their dog in their yard, my dog’s in the wrong place. Shoot it.
Like many breeds of dogs, Pit Bulls are different. Not everyone should have one. They need an outlet and yes, it’s in the form of biting and tugging. The previous owner of my dog had a little footsie game he played and I figured it out. Just scoot your feet around and tap it’s front paws and she’ll go to growling and biting them. Previous owner was in a rock band so I think he wore tall leather boots. My 9” work boots aren’t always tall enough but if I say “oww” or “easy”, she backs right off. By the sound, you’d think she’s tearing someone apart. The cats eyes get really big when we play. LOL
I can tell when she needs to play. Pits get kind of a furrowed brow and look a little anxious/aggravated when they have pent up energy. After about 10 minutes of the foot game, she’s a happy dog again for a week or so. She’s an old woman now though(13ish x 7) so she doesn’t have as much energy.
If I was to get a full blooded pit, it would have to be a puppy and I’d be choosy as far as who I’d get it from. I’d probably get a female and let it have one litter before getting it fixed. Makes a dog a good family protector imho. If I got a male, it would get fixed first thing because I have no desire to be a breeder.
I’ve been bit by a Collie and a few little yappie dogs.
Back in he 80s, dobies were all the rage and there were some downright dangerous ones out there, killers. People usually had a pair of them. ROSEBUD Never even heard of pit bulls back then.
I know but someone must call this ignorant OP out. If she got no push back she would think it would be okay to continue doing this here.
The fact is the OP couldn’t care less about Pit Bulls or any other animal. She does this purely for money hoping her click bait she links to is used by naive FR members.
I think that disgusts me as much as her pushing this Pittie Party narrative. She really should be banned permanently from FR and would be if I were a mod. She is the kind of people our parents warned us about.
yes save the dog from that house
Don't give them any ideas:
If the danger is diffused when the dog is dead, then litigation can begin against the owner. I will take a human life ONLY when some dork is a clear and present danger. (If CWII happens the rules will change.)
Guy is probably POed because his tatts are messed up with those ole ugly scars now.
There is a headline on Drudge about “80,000 dogs slaughtered” that I don’t have the strength to read. But I do have the strength to ask Norski to quit posting this dog-hating crap.
So they guy is on the news with a bandaged arm saying the dog bit him while he was holding a pizza?
I have read that it is best to consider a scenario carefully long before an urgent need to take action.
“In the context of the situation presented by the posted link to the article,...
Firing a round into a pit bull that is attached to a victim would be risky. A round can ricochet off of a bone and go into the victim or a bystanderespecially something very light, slow moving and round nosed without much expected diameter from expansion, like a common .22 LR.
But in some situations, that will be the victims only hope.. .”

I see. It seems then that the outcome was about as good as it possibly could have been - and could have been so much worse.
Especially considering that he was able to drag himself with the dog attached to his arm with him over to his firearm box, open the box, remove the gun, and fire -— all while being attacked, mauled, and either in shock or in terrible pain and fear.
The scar can always be incorporated into another tattoo. And a person who has a tattoo of a royal flush on their neck likely has other scars, and will be happy to tell you all about them if you would like to listen. This event has now increased his audience.
Geez! You even talk like a hard core progressive communist leftist!!!!!!
Time is precious under a dog attack.
Yes. The victim appears to have shown good presence of mind during the attack.
I wonder if he will reconsider his choice of feminine companionship in future.
