U.S. employers posted slightly more openings in June than the previous month, resulting in more available jobs than unemployed people for the third straight month, signaling a solid economy.
The Labor Department said Tuesday that job openings barely increased, rising 3,000 to 6.66 million. Thats more than the 6.56 million people who were searching for work in June. Its also close to Aprils figure of 6.8 million, a record high. Overall hiring slipped to 5.65 million from 5.75 million, and the number of people quitting their jobs declined slightly to 3.4 million from nearly 3.5 million in May.
The figures reflect a robust job market. The unemployed typically outnumber job openings, but that reversed this spring amid strong demand from employers. Businesses are optimistic about the outlook and stepping up hiring in anticipation of solid future growth.
The economy expanded at a 4.1 percent annual rate in the April-June quarter, the fastest pace in four years.

Many ‘Help Wanted’ signs in store and restaurant windows in the nearest ‘big’ town of about 3,000 people.

What’s it like from my personal experience? I finished a consulting contract about 2 months ago and had another lined up before I had even finished. I did this engagement and the bank did an internal reorganization so they eliminated all the consultants in the area I was in - sucks but it happens sometimes. I had 1 week notice. So after 3 days of “unemployment”, I accepted another offer from the same bank for another project which pays a little bit more than the one I just wrapped up.
I was on the market for 3 days.
I cannot even begin to explain how different that is from years and years of the Obama economy.
All of these stories about labor shortages are just an excuse to flood us with more immigrants. They think we are stupid.
Yep. Lots of fake job postings out there. Pretty much every company I follow has job posts that they have no intention of filling. Lots of reasons for doing that.
