Haven’t watched a game in 2 full years, since Crapernick started his BS (yes media, before Trump chimed in). Guess my weekends will remain open.

Your college teams don’t stand for the anthem either. Anyway, if the NFL goes away, college football as you know it will go away too.

College football would become what it is on the D-III level, a genuine student activity, engaged in for the love of the game.

That would be a welcome change IMHO.

I see that our team participated again already this year! Looks like we won’t be watching football again this year.

Kind of funny in a league that’s 80% Black.

It’s the easiest way for POTUS to attack the culture of disgracing the American flag, and the Republic for which it stands.

Trying to attach it to any other symbology or protest is agenda driven political BS.

Imagine that, a college activity that real students participate in, as opposed to semi-literates auditioning for the the NFL.

These are the laziest, attention-seeking idiots I’ve ever seen. They had all off-season to tackle their causes (whatever those are)... but it’s easier to grandstand. They deserve zero respect and zero attention. Besides, football played the NFL way is boring as hell.

These football kneelers were not given the opportunity to work towards their goals?

Also, folks have different goals, and some of the goals are pure evil.

Love your description of Roger Goodell!

Sister lived in Pittsburgh during the late 60’s-early 70’s so I became familiar with Iron City Beer and the Steelers. Great time to be following the team. In the 1990’s Franco Harris shared the same plane we were on. I found him to be very nice and humble, something I wish I could say about today’s players.

I thought The Commish had worked out a deal that these idiots would stay in the tunnel/off the field until after the anthem.

Apparently, they ‘respect’ The Commish about as little as they respect the anthem.

This how now become The Commish’s problem. Likely, it will not stop until huge fines or dismissals occur. Stockholders and team owners will likely be screaming, as this portends to be a loss-of-revenues season.

It's amazing how much NFL games suck. Believe it or not, I actually watched some of the (soccer) world cup matches. While I find the game itself is not that captivating, it was certainly a joy to be able to just sit back and watch the overall flow. Other than a few occasional theatrics, the games were basically 99% hard fought sporting efforts with a lot of emotion.

Same too with baseball - again, not my #1 game, but it is really nice to simply watch a sporting without much/any extraneous BS. No quick cuts to commercials, just nice even, steady flow & pace, etc.

Now, think of the genius idea of taking these basic sporting entertainment principles and applying them to a game that is actually very interesting and exciting to watch, with great physicality and strategy. Oops! That's exactly what NFL owners/managers did post WWII all the way through the 90s. Results? Boffo box office. In the process, everyone got rich: owners, players, media, advertisers - everyone.

But sadly, somewhere along the way, they all got too greedy. The game was already damaged by the 00s, but fans still hung in there. The kneeling is just really the icing; the ghetto hijinks, the flash, the BS was all way too much even 5 years ago.

Football can still come back. It's a great game - it just needs a wholesale cleansing. Perhaps at a certain point the NFL will fire all the malcontents, enact dress codes and standards of conduct. Really, the broadcast model at this point should be soccer ie in terms of long play time without commercial breaks & interruptions. If the NFL did something like that for a few seasons, maybe they could draw fans back into the comfort & habit of watching pace & flow.

Pre-season always has a lot of empty seats, because the games mean zilch.

It will be interesting to see how many seats are empty when the regular season begins.

Last year, many of those seats were likely paid for by season ticket holders. This year, those empty seats may actually represent lost revenue.

When they start losing enough revenue, the team owners/NFL stockholders will demand The Commish to bring these demonstrations to an end.

These kneelers had opportunities obviously.

They waste their energies making a hubbub and blaming America when they took advantage of their own opportunities

They could be using their energies to roll model and help children reach for their own opportunities by mentoring and creating opportunities. These guys are losers.

Losers are not winners
