The subsidies are in the billions. Indirect & otherwise. You can call it anything you want but when the federal government gives a $7,500 tax credit to a Tesla buyer, it’s a subsidy, any way you want to define it. And it’s my damn money they are giving away. The government has no business paying people to buy a car.
How you label the financial remunerations that are enabling Tesla to stay afloat don’t change the fact that Tesla is operating at a huge loss and has been from the get go. It would not be here without that funny money. Add to that the fact that Tesla is using deposits on future [potential] deliveries as day to day operating cash is a financial joke. It’s smoke and mirrors.
Without free money, Tesla would have been history years ago.
