The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds.
From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table(recipes)preserving, good living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!
NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed any time-and don't have to be about gardening.
We harvested 5 gallons of squash and bell peppers this week, and quite a few cherry tomatoes. Patio and landscaping projects didn't get much headway due to weather.
Hope you are all doing well. Prayers up for all. Have a good weekend. God Bless.
Pinging the list.
I never not think Of Freeper Chris aka trappedinliberalhell when I see this Gardening thread here is a link http://www.freerepublic.com/~trappedinliberalhell/ Wow 2003 he passed
My wow was I cant believe its been that long ago
I'd like to know which ones you use, how you use them, specifically why you use them, and your results.
Links to your favorites would be helpful too.
Thank you.
Our weather has been like this:
HOT, HOT, HOT, HOT, MONSOON,
HOT, HOT, HOT, HOT, MUGGY, HOT, HUMID, HOT, MONSOON,
HOT, HOT, HOT, MUGGY, AND HOT.
Thanks for the memories. I always think of Johnny-JRandomFreeper every time anyone mentions Roma Tomatoes or Tobacco.
Of course, that also reminds me of Marcella and Rightly. Those three kept the Garden Thread hopping and entertaining almost daily.
Hubby planted sunflowers this year for the first time. I tried them once-unfortunately, it was a cool and very wet spring, and they failed.
Hubby has had pretty good success with them and plans to grow some next year too.
Hot and muggy and more rain that usual here too.
Best fertilizer is cow manure, processed, pretty much odorless. It looks like soil.
Penny the Dog and I love daily hikes in the woods. But not when it’s like this.
I hear you. I don’t like to get out in this extreme either.
Any specific brand you use and where do you get it?
Penny is ensconced on the bedroom floor, in the path of the AC.
Smart Penny. LOL
I should tell you we had a horse named Penny when I was a youngster. Named for 2 reasons-we saved pennies to be able to buy her, and her coloring was sort of penny colored.
She was a good ole mare.
Any large store with a garden section, Fred Myers, Walmart etc
Looks like a scrappy little guy! :-)
