I just looked at Waze and it appears to be just for driving. I work in oil and gas and we look at a lot of aerial photos so that we can make sure that we drill a well right in someones prized orchard or hay field. JK.
Remove the GOS chip but yeah, not happening short of getting a new phone......with a GPS chip.
Yes. Easily found on eBay. The LG VX8300 is a good one. Tough as nails and easy to get your number switched to. I used to use one but, I've been forced into a touch screen, app driven monstrocity. I'm still trying to get it mostly locked down.
Correct. The phone sends out a signal to register with the cell system...usually at a high power setting. The system responds and tells the phone what tower in which cell to connect to and at what power level...much lower than registration signal. The rest is up to the system while the phone is moving.
I have had things like that happen and it is chilling. It is obvious when you are tracked and listened to.
It reminds me of when we had party line telephones many years ago. My husband talked to a man on the phone about a truck for sale, we had mentioned to no one that we were looking for a truck, it just seemed like a bargain. After he hung up the phone rang and it was the neighbor lady saying she “heard” we wanted to buy a truck and her son had one for sale. LOL Pretty obvious she was listening in on our phone conversations. It is just as obvious now that someone is tracking and listening. Those ads pop right up.
No, its not.
Again, with the Android at least (I know nothing about iPhones or Blackberrys) you can shut off the “location” feature for all your apps at once. Google won’t (can’t) track you then.
Or, you can simply power the phone off. Impossible to track then, until/unless you power it on.
No no no ! What I’m saying is that even with your location off, your phone still knows where it is. The ONLY company that has access to this is Google. (On the Android, of course. MS And Apple take the same stance on their platforms)
This is how google traffic works. There are a bunch of phones up ahead reporting their slowdown and GPS locations. Not all, but some. Again if the phone can’t get GPS (it’s connected to a wi-fi, the browser layer hasn’t asked or whathaveyou) then it just waits until it can and then sends it to Google. Data connection required.
Only when your phone is on....
