I remember that !!! I used to live in Volney around that time and shopped at that Tops store. Isn’t it a Price Chopper Store now?

So did my son!
At museum gift shops he would look for bug candy (He found some a few times.)
Once a big brood of cicadas were hatching any day soon where we lived and he wanted to eat some and for me to cook them first. I told him I would if he woke up at the crack of dawn and caught the new hatching ones as they were coming out of ground I would. (I knew I wouldn’t have to cook any!)
A few years ago for Christmas I gave him freeze dried sour cream and chive flavored crickets.
He will eat anything strange. He even likes Haggis!

Well, I don’t think it is THAT dumb.
We have a saying in Engineering, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
Not that far off from his.
The idea is you could make thinks worse or even break them in the process of trying to repair that which is working properly.

Guy robbed a bank in Cleburne TX 15-20 years ago. He got caught because while he was busy robbing the bank, the meter maid was ticketing his car because he hadn’t put a penny or whatever it cost in the parking meter.
Story made it on Paul Harvey.

We have a saying in Engineering, If it aint broke, dont fix it. Well of course, that was what he intended to say. That's what made it funny - he said it backwards, 'can't be fixed if it ain't broked! I guess 'broked' is hillbillyspeak for broken.

You can buy lots of different insect products now, especially stuff with cricket meal. That’s not the same as just eating the ants off the sidewalk, though!
My oldest daughter was in the Coast Guard, and she ate all sorts of revolting things when her ship docked in Thailand and Indonesia. I’m afraid if I went to Asia, I’d just have to eat rice.

Our previous Harvard-educated President claimed a deceased Marine was a member of the Marine Corpse. And that guy knew better.

In my work environment there are a lot of intermittent troubles. It is often explained that it is very difficult to fix something which isnt broken.
