Agree. As is typical with FReepers, I could jump in with the snarky “I guess she didn’t want it that way,” but reading the article, it rings true for me.

I’m wondering though with the democratization of content distribution if she could work via YouTube/MySpace, etc. to cultivate an audience. Yes, it’s definitely a harder road, but for someone with some previous success, is that approach viable?

Not so much with youtube downthrottling page views and spotify selling the number one recommenation to Drake in all categories including Tuvan Doo Wop Rock Opera.
Spotify had heavy ownership from Sony and Warner Entertainment. Can’t have ‘unsigned’ artists breaking out and upsetting their rigged charts.
