They posted the latest edition of Intellectual Froglegs was posted last night. When you try to play the video on youtube you get the ever popular "! Video unavailable. This video contains content from UMPG Publishing who has blocked it in you country on copyright grounds."
Looks like someone at Google/youtube got in touch with their lib buddies at UMPG and got them to block the content.
Okay, I’ll bite. Who’s Joe Dan?
Some of the better humor on the internet.
Does it contain unlicensed copyright protected material?
Neat screen name.
In 10 second clips. Thought there was a fair use clause that permitted that sort of thing?
ALWAYS good. Love the credits.
It's a complex area of the law. Is his youtube channel monetized or does it contain ads? If yes, probably not fair use. If no, the questions just keep coming. The percentage of the material used is probably more important than the length of any individual clip.
But if he wants to get Google/Alphabet or whatever entity now owns Youtube to ignore a takedown order, he probably needs to be willing to enter into an indemnity agreement with them and show financial capacity to cover damages and expenses. Because the bottom line is that it would be a fact intensive inquiry at trial.
The full 33 minute show played on youtube just now without issue for me just moments ago.
