I just read somewhere and many posted including an IT guy to use DuckDuckGo instead of Google search. Has anyone used it and thoughts? Apparently they don’t track anything.

I use DuckDuckGo. Have for months now. They don’t track you. Prob is I think when you go from them to a search that leads you to Google.

I put this article up because it does show you how to control the settings that shut off the tracking on the other sites.

StartMail with the encrypted feature and multiple emails in the account
and
StartPage
are good additions

I use DuckDuckGo and startpage. Sadly, it appears that everything still runs through “i.e.” in one way or another. Surely some FReeper knows a workaround. I use “ie” for nothing but when I do a computer clean up, there is always something there.

I only use DuckDuckGo. I never touch Google. I refuse to buy a smart phone. I still use a flip phone. Does anybody know where I can buy a radio?

It is on my smart phone. No idea if it stops the tracking.

I have Duck Duck Go on my phone, my 2 home computers, and even my WORK computer. Google is GONE!

I can echo praise for DuckDuckGo. I sometimes use Google for their maps.

There are Faraday cages available for your cell phone and car key fob, two tracking devices.

You can also make your own cage from aluminum foil or certain types of mylar. Test by inserting your phone and then calling your number. If the phone doesn't ring it isn't being tracked.

I can’t get anywhere with DuckDuckGo searches. They’ll pull up long lists of info from years ago but nothing that happened last week.

I use DuckDuckGo and it works OK, but it isn’t in the same league as Google (especially on maps).

I switch back fairly often, but keep the Duck as my default search engine. I hate Google, but see it as a necessary evil.

Quack on.
