Though as far as the Church goes, "the gates of hell will not prevail," that doesn't mean that myriads of souls are not going to be lost because of corruption in high places causing loss of faith, hope, and love in vulnerable hearts.

Jesus said to fear the one who can destroy the body and soul in hell.

He also asked whether, when the Son of Man comes, he will find faith on earth.

Yes, the remnant will triumph in the end. But in the meantime, that question makes you wonder.
