This burgeoning crisis of abuse has received far less attention than the well-documented scandal that rocked the Catholic Church. That’s in part because the evangelical and fundamentalist world, unlike the Catholic hierarchy, is diverse and fractious, composed of thousands of far-flung denominations, ministries, parachurch groups, and missions like ABWE. Among Christian evangelicals, there is no central church authority to investigate, punish, or reform. Groups like ABWE answer only to themselves.

I'm guessing Islam, Hindus and Buddhists have a problem too.

When you see a placard on United Methodists Church that trans and gays are welcome, you know that at least one of them is molesting the kids and nothing is done about it out of PC. It is the placard protection.

Desperate attempts to smear Christians as sexual abusers, not the secular leftists who fund the Democrats.

The article was ludicrous in innuendo and conflation.

“Are Protestants concealing a Catholic-size sexual abuse scandal?”

The strange logic seems to be, that given he could highlight one sordid event, then it applies to the entire Protestant body, since it is happening to the entire Catholic body.

Yes, it is safe to assume that it is happening somewhere, but that does not mean it is happening everywhere.

I have heard of a few cases, and when it breaks, it is publicized, it is over and the culprits aren’t moved to a new location where they can continue their routines.

I personally think that EVERY organized religion has a dark, hidden side in terms of child abuse. There are increasing investigations that this is a very common problem among rabbis in the Jewish community, too.

No, simply because our ministers can be married. That means they do not have to stare at goats, young boys, and each other.

With the Catholic church, its central administration engendered gay sex across countries.

Fortunately, there is a limit to abuses of small churches.

“Silence of the Lambs: Are Protestants concealing a Catholic-size sexual abuse scandal?”

it’s pretty obvious there must be since no one has heard a peep out it, right? (he said sarcastically)

That is right. In many Protestant churches, there IS no hierarchy to protect the guilty! There is no cover up because there is no one to do the covering up!

But for your “scandal”, this Baptist recognizes one name, and he was someone I didn’t think highly of.

Sorry, but if you’re trying to excuse the Catholic Church based on there also being sin in protestant churches...it doesn’t cut it.

One more of your ‘see’ everybody is doing it... threads, just like the liberals do to redirect attention when they get caught with sin on their dirty hands. ... no big deal, I am going to call you the ‘whitewash’ queen.

Are protestants afflicted with a celibate clergy? Certainly mainline protestants might with their rush to embrace perversion but so is the Catholic church.

Any religion where the "priests" are placed in a special status above the Laity is prone to develop such problems...all the extra pomp and circumstance draws a picture of a truly holy person who needs to be considered above reproach and those up the chain do their best to protect their own status by covering up for those below them.....as some might have covered for them before they attained their own status....

One of the reasons I went non-denominational is because regular men do the preaching, they tend to stick to Biblical Truth, and encourage one to not believe them because of their position but to please do your own research and studying to ensure they aren't misleading you.

The whole Bible is meat for the sermons/talks and Jesus is always stressed at each and every service (at least at my church). They have a small core of p[aid folks and utilize volunteers from the laity who have full and ready access to finances and inputs for policy.

More “whataboutism”. Two wrongs don’t make a right. Every institution in society is now undergoing re-examination regarding sex abuse — anywhere there is the possiblity of a power imbalance. Take care of your own and stop worrying about the rest — their people are responsible for theirs.

This sure is starting to feel like an ‘everybody does it’ sort of preparation for what’s about to spill on high-level, widespread pedophila/pedovoria.

They’ll be a story soon on how the Shaker’s are having a sex scandal.
