President Trump’s former personal lawyer is being investigated over more than $20 million in loans to taxi companies owned by him and his family — and could face charges within the next two weeks, according to a new report Sunday.
Michael Cohen is also being probed over deals to buy the silence of women who claimed they had affairs with Trump, The New York Times reported.
Federal authorities are in the final stage of their investigation and are weighing charges including bank and tax fraud and violations of campaign finance law, people familiar with the matter told the paper.
Prosecutors are considering filing charges against Cohen by the end of the month, two of the sources reportedly said.
The FBI raided Cohen’s office, home and hotel room in April, sparking criticism from President Trump, who called the searches a “disgraceful situation” and an “attack on our country in a true sense.”

Ah, but you see..... This isn’t “The FBI” investigating a Trump associate to try to get him to break and perjure testimony against Trump for the deomcrat’s impeachment proceedings.
It is the “southern district DOJ lawyers from Manhattan” who are trying to get him to break and perjure testimony against Trump for the democrat’s upcoming impeachment proceedings. (But they were given the case from Mueller’s corrupt orifice.)
Next up: Trump is guilty of hiring his own family members into the White House staff.
Cohen is little Bobby Mueller’s favorite ham sandwich.
I hope he pardons them all if necessary.

A curious detail.
If he had major money issues, it might determine why he went around touting his ability to influence Trump to Novartis, who paid him, and also to (IIRC) AT&T.
Also, if I were Mueller, my first impression would be that perhaps Trump was influence-able, which would be a major corruption coup for Mueller, when what’s overwhelmingly likely is that Trump knew nothing about Cohen’s attempt to cash in on his friendship with the President.
Wonder when they start an investigation of the Clinton Foundation.

This seems to be a repeated problem in FBI prosecutions. I am failing to see fraud unless someone has been defrauded, i.e. has real damages. If they granted a loan - which is the business that they are in - and it is being repaid, I am not sure what the damage is. Further, I think there is a huge difference between embellishing one's financial resume to get a loan that you will be able to repay, and lying to get a loan having no intention of paying it back. For the latter you should go to jail.
OTOH what about all the bankers who gave real estate loans knowing that there was a high probability it would be repaid by the taxpayer, not the obligor - I mean the originally intended obligor. They were guilty of fraud. How many of them went to jail, Mr. Mueller? Crickets? Again?
Taxi cabs? Are the cabs driven by Russians?
“being investigated” is NOT the same as being found guilty.
Taxi cabs are safe...they are driven by mooslims.
