The best thing that could happen would be for the so-called 24 news shows to burn themselves out of existence. It does seem they are well on the way.

My biggest fear is a Trump impeachment. It would give every cable news channel around the clock programming, and record revenues from advertising.

Trump is enough of a street fighter that he'd never be convicted in the Senate, but daily hearings, followed by "analysis" by "experts" will fill the airwaves.

OTOH, I have noticed that Democrat leaders are starting to tap the breaks, even after Cohen flipped on Trump. Their internal polling must be telling them to tread very carefully.

His old man routine was classic. Especially when the target was Kormann.

Humans are not designed to be assaulted with bad news 24 hours a day with the meter set constantly to 11, but that is what the MSM has been pushing in a desperate attempt at attracting viewers.

I've personally gone from being a news junky to so repelled by it all that I rarely watch TV these days. The internet and Rush are now able to fill my news requirements.

A person can only take so much.

That was a true classic. My college roommate and I watched the original broadcast in March 1969 [IIRC]. We laughed for an hour after the skit ended.

Don Knotts and Tim Conway - The Private Eyes - Peaches in the Pantry

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VAilnWjk_I

One of my favorites for me and my kids. We watched it so many times we knew most of the lines by Heart!

Been there, just did that with my own father. The end is definitely near. What a shame - loved Tim Conway!

You have to watch that Dentist skit twice:

Once with eyes on Tim.

Second time with eyes on Harvey.

In one of the broadcasts Harvey said he was laughing so hard he wet himself.

IIRC, it originally took place in 1969. When Carol started another comedy hour (several years later), Tim and Harvey presented the skit again. There were some minor differences and I liked the 1969 version, but that taping might not have been saved.

“The result has been the opposite. People are switching them off in increasing numbers...”

Yes, and I am encouraged by that. It’s still too early to declare victory, though.

I think we’re hearing about it now because there’s a family disagreement going on, and the daughter or her lawyer thinks public support is needed. His health must’ve gone down fast or someone was posting on his FB page as him up until April 29 of this year. ( https://www.facebook.com/TimConwayOfficial )

I agree with you on your point. We don’t all need to know about someone’s private life just because he or she is famous.

Peace and Comfort...dear one..

I also lost my Mom at almost 85 (couple months shy) and doctors said she also had Alzheimer's, I feel she was pleasant confused, and had mild dementia...but I'm not a medical doctor...but I dressed hair in nursing homes, hospitals, and funeral homes for 17 years..so I saw Alzheimer's and Dementia on a daily basis...My mom knew me up to her last breath...
The three years she was in the nursing home, she spent every day with me in the salon, she even cleaned perm rods, and sorted them into the colors, red, blue yellow and straightened the end papers and told me to reuse them to save money...lol....ahhhh the memories..
You're so correct saying we can handle death, but the lost of memory and becoming a vegetable is so heart rendering and frightening...

My out look is to take one day at a time..and put it all in the hands of the Lord...

Just wanted to share, that at one time,,I think it was 1976 I dressed the hair of TIM CONWAY'S step mother, a wonderful woman, talented and drew her Christmas card and sent me one..she was so proud of her step son. that was in West Lake OH.. also did the hair of George Steinbrenner Mother, who was a super nice lady...she always wore a RUBY AND DIAMOND broach that said NEW YORK YANKEES...just beautiful and stunning..she once gave me her recipe for butterscotch Brownies, I sat down to copy it and she said...’no darling, keep the card, my baking days are over’ I still have that darn recipe. ...OK...enough from me..time to say GOOD NITE, FREE REPUBLIC...

Found an article that states he had brain surgery for water on the brain from head trauma. That probably explains the 2018 FB posts in which he sounds quite lucid. ( http://thelifeandtimesofhollywood.com/tim-conway-missed-carol-burnett-special-due-to-possible-dementia/ )

An interesting article about his life: http://www.patheos.com/blogs/christophers/2013/11/tim-conways-hilarious-and-spiritual-life/

A quote from his book: “I think God has placed me in several positions, which I have found humorous. I find humor in life itself, and I can hardly wait to thank Him in person.”

Hate to hear this news. He and Harvey were the absolute best. I hope the family can resolve their issues.

“I met him 35 years ago at the Santa Anita racetrack when we were celebrating a cousin’s birthday. He was humble, sweet, and gracious. Just a regular guy.”

My dad met him too and pretty much said the same thing, very nice, friendly guy. Guess he really liked racing because it was also at a racetrack.

I wouldn’t be too troubled, he probably isn’t feeling any pain or knowledge of his condition.

Told my gf that when the time comes and my brain folds up to just put me in a home and walk away. I won’t know about it and I won’t care, I’ll be somewhere else.

I have noticed that Democrat leaders are starting to tap the breaks, even after Cohen flipped on Trump. Their internal polling must be telling them to tread very carefully.

Well, we are way off topic here, but, you make a good observation, and I'm not inclined to post a vanity that would most likely get "buried" here quickly. So, I'll try to not be too verbose:

Mark Levin's style often drives me to turn him off, but he made a good point tonight that prosecutorial avenues are being opened up against Trump that could not only cripple any (or perhaps every) POTUS in the future, every Republican prosecutor in the country can use these avenues to go after Democrats in most any position. (And of course Democrats can target more Pubs, too.) IMO, this leads rapidly to a chaotic 3rd world-ish situation somewhat reminiscent of, say, Ukraine (less the Russian angle) the last couple decades, with weak governments subject to populist coups, reprisals, and unending strife, and with the military's loyalty always in question -- wait a minute! Such lack of control would have to be the Deep State's "we-are-born-to-rule" worst nightmare. Such cycles are very hard to break, and far worse than a President Trump, who they see as a temporary (if unpleasant-to-them) aberration.

I ADORE Tim Conway! And I smell a RAT. Don’t know if the daughter or the wife is the rat, but this kind of thing is usually about control of MONEY.

Tim Conway was great!

And, yes, sadly, you may be correct. It sounds to me (and I could be way off base) as if the wife wants to place TC in a cheaper facility to save more of the estate for herself(?) and maybe her own care / future care, while the daughter is basically saying "screw that, I want Dad to get the best care possible, even if it eats up the estate."

Still... If Conway's wife is frightened and / or worried about her own care, maybe no one is a "rat".

There ain't no good guy, there ain't no bad guy, there's just you and me and we just disagree..."

In the cases of both my Mom and Dad, if / when they needed better care, the less well equipped facilities were honest & told us that they could not take / or continue to have him or her. (In the case of my Dad's Assisted Living, as he deteriorated, his facility suggested for a while we had private sitters come in to stay with him part time, which really ran up total cost, but also improved his quality of life quite a bit. Since his medical needs were fairly minimal, this was better than nursing care, even if almost as expensive. Later he had a stroke and then did have to go to nursing care, but while in Assisted Living, did he ever enjoy having those young ladies helping him out & keeping him company most of the day!) (We were quite fortunate in getting mostly really good sitters.)
