It wasn’t just Buckley and Goldwater opposing the 1964 Civil Rights Act, it was also Ronald Reagan.

Of course Goldwater was the only one of them who had a vote, but the other two warned that this was a giant overreach of government power into the private life of Americans.

Those who do praise it have no business complaining about private citizens being forced to make gay wedding cakes, or about minority hiring preferences, reverse discrimination, or the rest of the progressive social agenda, because all of that stuff originates with that bill. It could have been accurately named the Thought Policing Act.

I noticed this here in 2000

I bet 90% of freepers love the civil rights acts

They are a little more aware on MLK
