Mmmkay? The government version is free and is reporting nothing in the Eastern map. Is weatherbell just predicting?

gfs dissipates the whole thing. another model doesn’t even form a storm. the typically hysterical euro throws the whole thing into the gulf.

weatherfreaks the world over wet their dresses.

anyone putting stock in a model 280+ hours out is either peddling atrocity narratives or needs to be horsewhipped.

Early September is the peak of hurricane season, so people in potentially affected areas should always have at least some basic preparations at this time.

But these potential threats are days away. There’s no reason to worry at this time.

With the peak of hurricane season close at hand, there are signs that the tropical Atlantic may soon spring to life with the potential for direct impact on the coastal United States in the days ahead.

People along the U.S. Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico coasts, as well as the Caribbean, have enjoyed an extended period with no great concern for tropical activity during August. However, things are likely to change, and that change may be rapid.

"There are signs now that wind shear may drop over a significant part of the Atlantic basin over the next couple of weeks," according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Bernie Rayno.

This is Joe Bastardi’s site, he’s not a big time climate alarmist, and he’s just pointing out that some patterns from 2004 as starting to turn up in certain locations.

I trust Bastardi. I follow him on Twitter. His long-term forecasts tend to be right.

I just completed 5 days of construction swapping out old windows for Hurricane impact windows. No more extension ladders and steel shutters to deal with.

Most likely this major investment will serve to inoculate my neighborhood from any future hurricanes.

Me too - went out a spent a bundle on high-impact clear polycarbonate hurricane panels, after the near miss with Irma last year.

Now I know we won’t have a hurricane anytime soon.
